What is the Brooke Shop?
The Brooke Shop is a brilliant way to buy your friends and loved ones thoughtful gifts that not only will put a smile on their faces but will also help horses and donkeys in some of the world’s poorest communities and the people who depend on them.
Can I find out more information about the people/projects my gifts have funded?
Unfortunately it is not possible to tell you exactly where your particular gift has been used, as the administrative costs would be too high and would mean that less money would be spent where it is needed most. All donations received from The Brooke Shop go directly to our work overseas. How much do you spend on the production of the Brooke Shop?
The Brooke Shop has proved to be a very cost effective way of raising funds for our work around the world, and we aim to make the best possible use of our supporters’ money to bring the biggest difference to working horses’ and donkeys’ lives. We are constantly working to reduce our costs in order to maximise the amount of money going overseas, and although The Brooke Shop Catalogue only costs 7p to produce, our average order is over £40. Every penny raised from The Brooke Shop will be sent to help fund our operations overseas.

When will my order be delivered?
We will dispatch orders within 3 days from receipt of order by first class post – so please allow up to 14 days for delivery of your gifts.
Where does the money from the gifts I buy go?
Every penny from Brooke Shop gifts goes directly to help fund our operations overseas, helping animals where and how they need it most. None of the money raised from The Brooke Shop is put towards administration costs. All the gifts shown relate to projects that Brooke teams undertake. In some cases we have illustrated a typical example of what we provide, but this changes depending on where in the world the work takes place. Whatever you can give you can be sure it will help us reach out to animals and communities that really need it!
How does it work when I buy a Brooke Gift for someone?
Step 1 You order a gift from The Brooke Shop for a friend or relative – there are three different ways in which to buy your thoughtful gift:
By post: We send you an envelope with an attractive gift card and a certificate inside detailing the gift. All you need to do is add the name of the recipient.
Send an e-card: Left it a little late? Send an e-card of your chosen gift straight to your loved one, anywhere in the world.
Download a pdf: You may choose to buy and download a pdf gift certificate to print off and present to your friends, family, or colleagues.
Step 2 Your friend or relative knows that their gift is helping horses and donkeys who really need it.
Step 3 The money you give us is ALL spent on our work in poor communities around the world.
Can I order a gift if I live overseas?
Yes. You can order by post, phone or online but we must receive your order by 8th December if you want to receive postal orders in time for Christmas. You can send an e-card instantly or buy a pdf certificate to print off and give to your loved ones.
Can I Gift Aid my thoughtful gifts?
Yes, Brooke Shop virtual gifts are counted as donations and therefore they are eligible for Gift Aid. The Gift Aid scheme allows charities such as the Brooke to reclaim the basic rate tax that has already been paid on donations. This increases the value of your donations by 25%. To sign up to Gift Aid, you must pay Income or Capital Gains tax, and you must have paid enough tax in the tax year in question to cover the amount which the Brooke will reclaim. About the Brooke
The Brooke is an international animal welfare organisation dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules in some of the world's poorest communities. We provide treatment, training and programmes around animal health and wellbeing, operating across Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Horses and donkeys toil in some of the world’s toughest environments, carrying building materials, people, goods and crops. Many of them suffer terrible pain, exhaustion, dehydration and malnutrition - but many of these problems can be prevented.
The Brooke’s mobile vet teams and community animal health workers, and our partner organisations worldwide, provide free treatment to animals, train local healers, farriers, saddlers, feed sellers, harness and cart makers, as well as teaching owners the best ways to care for their working horse or donkey.
Last year, we helped over 900,000 working horses, donkeys and mules - benefiting over 5 million poor people who depend on these animals for their livelihood. Our goal is to increase the number of working animals we help to two million animals a year by 2016.
